There is no sign yet of what will replace the large city store

Major sportswear retailer Sports Direct has closed its original Nottingham store for good after a new branch on Lister Gate opened ahead of schedule. A notice displayed on the shop's window in Clumber Street confirms the shop has now moved following a closing sale.

"The 30,000 sq. ft store will give Nottingham customers access to the world’s best sports and lifestyle brands, as well as offer other brands from the Frasers Group ecosystem, including USC, GAME and Jack Wills." The shop was previously occupied by Swedish retailer H&M, which moved to the Victoria Centre in May. A number of other shops have left Lister Gate in recent years, including M&S Home, Boots and WH Smith.
