South Australia Police have spent Saturday afternoon negotiating with a suspected gunman in Adelaide's north-east.

More than 30 officers swarmed a home on Elm Road in Campbelltown about 1.30pm, with surrounding streets blocked off as armoured police vehicles arrived at the scene.

Residents were warned to avoid the area as officers, including from the Special Tasks and Rescue , attempted to negotiate with the suspected gunman. SA Police acting assistant commissioner Graham Goodwin said the people involved were related to each other and it was not a random incident. "Charges will be laid at this point in time...and charges will be pending on the injuries sustained by those people...quite clearly they're serious," he said.
