A 69-year-old man has been killed after a crane he was driving rolled down an embankment and into a creek on the Gold Coast.
Police were called to Vita Bella Court at Currumbin Valley about 8.30am on Tuesday to reports a crane had overturned.Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Ambulance Service also attended the scene. A QAS spokeswoman told SkyNews.com.au a male patient was entrapped and critically injured when crews arrived.
He said the man was not actually operating the crane when the accident happened, but was test driving it to see how it moved. There are reports the man was doing a favour for a friend at the time, according to the Courier-Mail. Superintendent Knowles said it was a"delicate" and"difficult process" for emergency crews to get to the man due to fuel leaking and the positioning of the crane.
