Sheldon Evans was indicted Tuesday on charges connected to the kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl he met in Atlanta, officials said.A grand jury indicted 38-year-old Sheldon Vonshey Evans on Tuesday, court records show. Evans, who is from Atlanta, is charged in connection with the 2022 trafficking of the girl, aggravated kidnapping and indecency with a child by sexual contact, according to a news release from the DA’soffice.
Evans did not appear in online Collin County jail records Thursday and it is unclear if he has an attorney.“Sex trafficking will not be tolerated in our community, and I’d like to thank the Richardson Police Department for their rapid response and rescue of this child,” Collin County DA Greg Willis said in a written statement.
Prosecutors allege that — in December 2022 — Evans met the girl in Atlanta, arranged for her to travel to Texas and picked her up at DFW International Airport before he took her to his apartment where she was assaulted.Court documents say that Evans bought lingerie for the 16-year-old to “look and dress older so she could make money,” according to prosecutors. He also allegedly told the girl to call him “Daddy” or “SP” for “Skinny Pimp.
