A 30-year-old man accused of causing the death of a two-year-old boy in a car crash in Smethwick has admitted to careless driving but denies causing death by dangerous driving. The incident occurred on December 14th, resulting in a head-on collision that tragically claimed the life of Shehbaz Singh. The man, Sharjeel Shahzad, is scheduled to face trial in July.
A 30-year-old man accused of killing a two-year-old boy in a car crash in Smethwick has admitted to driving carelessly but denies causing death by dangerous driving . Sharjeel Shahzad, of Cooksey Lane, Great Barr, is facing charges after a hit-and-run collision involving a Porsche Cayenne with false number plates on December 14th. The collision on Dartmouth Road resulted in a two-car head-on impact, sending Shehbaz Singh, a passenger in a Toyota Auris, and four adults to the hospital.
Sadly, Shehbaz succumbed to his injuries. Mr. Shahzad has admitted to two charges of causing serious injury by careless driving but maintains his driving was not dangerous. Judge Michael Chambers KC adjourned the case, scheduling a trial for July at Wolverhampton Crown Court. During Wednesday's hearing, Mr. Shahzad also admitted to using a motor vehicle without third-party insurance and driving other than in accordance with a license. He further pleaded guilty to dangerous driving offenses involving an Audi A4 on various roads including Ashby Road, Loughborough, and the A446, A512, A42, M42, and M6 on June 10th last year
