BREAKING: Man admits killing NHS nurse and her children aged four and six.
Triple-killer Saju Chelavalel has pleaded guilty to the murders of NHS nurse Anju Ashok and her children.
Chelavalel, 52, killed Anju and her six-year-old Jeeva Saju and Janvi Saju, aged four, and confessed his guilt during the 12 minute hearing.Police were called to the property at about 11.15am on December 15 and found Kettering General Hospital nurse Ms Asok and her children with serious injuries.Ms Asok, who moved to the UK from Kerala in India in 2021, died at the scene while Jeeva and his sister Janvi, who both joined Kettering Park Infant Academy earlier this year, died at hospital.
Chief Executive Deborah Needham said she was ‘loved and respected by her dear friends and colleagues. All our thoughts are with her friends and family as they come to terms with this sudden loss.’ Assisted by an interpreter in the dock, Chelavalel answered ‘guilty’ to two of the counts he faced, but in relation to the charge of murdering Jeeva he replied: ‘I don’t know what happened to the children, but I plead guilty.’
Adjourning the case until July 3, Judge David Herbert KC said: ‘There can only be one sentence in law, namely a life sentence, but the judge dealing with your case on that day will have to set the appropriate minimum term.’
