A man has been charged after a female St Johnstone football club employee was 'attacked' before the Rangers tie at Hampden.

Officers were alerted to the incident at around 4.45 pm on Saturday, August 17, prior to the Ibrox side's clash with the club in the Scottish League Cup game. It is believed that the 51-year-old had been carrying a drum when she was 'attacked' and had the drum 'stolen'. Police say a 22-year-old man has since been charged in connection with the 'robbery'. Officers say that two further males, aged 16 and 21, were arrested in connection with 'breach of the peace' offences and 'resisting arrest' after a disturbance broke out following the incident. Both were charged and released and will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.St Johnstone released a statement following the incident confirming the incident involved one of their employees.

A spokesperson said: "We are aware of an incident involving one of our club employees prior to today’s Premier Sports Cup match against Rangers at Hampden Park.
