Emergency services were called to the scene on the High Street in Cowdenbeath at around 8.30pm on Thursday.
A 46-year-old man was badly injured after allegedly being knocked down as he crossed the road.
He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Police previously appealed for information in their efforts to trace the driver. Officers have now confirmed that a 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the crash. He is due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Monday.
