A man was arrested Wednesday and accused of murder in connection with a shooting that killed a 26-year-old man in 2023 on Philips Highway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
In late October 2023, police responded to a shooting on Philips Highway, near Bowdendale and Stepp avenues. When they arrived, police found a man shot to death on the road, near a private business. They also found two other men who had been injured by gunfire and were transported to a hospital, according to JSO .In the early stages of the investigation, surveillance footage showed one of the suspects and the car used during the shooting, police said.
Garcia-Jimenez was arrested in November 2023 and charged with accessory to murder and tampering with evidence.
