BREAKING: Man arrested outside Parliament after police officer punched
Officers arrested the man on suspicion of assault, with pictures from the scene showing the suspect being held down next to the crash barriers.
A group of five officers pinned the man to the floor for several minutes while armed police watched on. There were inaccurate reports shared on social media that an officer had been stabbed, but police said this was not the case.The officer who was attacked did not suffer serious injuries. A Met Police statement said: ‘We are aware of commentary on social media about an incident outside Parliament.
‘Shortly after 3.30pm, a man was arrested for assault after an officer was punched. The officer was not seriously injured and the incident is not being treated as terrorism.’
