A 66-year-old who was arrested over a multi-vehicle crash on the A5 which left one man dead and several other people injured has been bailed.
Emergency service crews attended the scene near Upton Magna, east of Shrewsbury, and the man, who had been a passenger in one of the cars, was pronounced dead despite the best efforts of bystanders and firefighters who administered CPR and paramedics who attempted advanced life support.A 66-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in the aftermath of the crash, which also saw several other people injured.
Two people suffered serious injuries and one suffered minor injuries; they were all conveyed to hospital for treatment. Today West Mercia Police said the man who was arrested has been bailed while enquiries into the circumstances of the crash continue.As part of the investigation, the force is now appealing for anyone who saw the crash or has relevant dash-cam footage to come forward.
