Detectives investigating the attempted murder of DCI John Caldwell have released a man they were questioning.
The 36-year-old was being held after the gun attack seriously injured the top PSNI man as he loaded footballs into the boot of his car at a sports complex on the Killyclogher Road in Omagh on February 22.A 34-year-old woman was arrested in the Omagh area earlier this month on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting offenders. She was later released on bail pending further inquiries.
A PSNI statement said: "A 36-year-old man arrested in connection with the claim of responsibility made following the attempted murder of DCI John Caldwell and as part of ongoing investigations into the activities of the New IRA has been released following questioning.For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our daily newsletter here.
