A disturbing incident unfolded during a live-streamed prayer service at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane , Washington, when a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt suddenly lunged at Reverend David Gaines, the parochial vicar, and punched him. The attack was captured on video, showing the rogue churchgoer throwing a punch at Gaines, who managed to dodge it, causing both of them to fall to the floor.
Three clergy members immediately rushed to separate the attacker from Gaines, while several other men joined the fray. Other churchgoers, visibly shocked, stood up in disbelief as the chaotic scene unfolded. A witness can be heard calmly urging the assailant to relax, assuring him that everything was alright. More than a minute later, the attacker was subdued and escorted off the chancel by two men, one holding each of his arms. He was subsequently placed in handcuffs
