A man in Wilmslow, Cheshire, attacked a police station, causing damage to a window and security gate. He also hurled abuse at officers before fleeing the scene.

Police are searching for a man who attacked a police station, cracking a window and causing damage to a security entrance gate before running away. The man allegedly went on to hurl abuse at officers who ran outside to confront him, before running away across a nearby car park and managing to escape. Police in Wilmslow , Cheshire , are now appealing for information and anyone with CCTV or doorbell and dash-cam footage to come forward.

The man approached Wilmslow Police Station on Hawthorn Street at 7.30pm last Wednesday. A force spokesperson said: 'The man then proceeded to aggressively hit the window, resulting in it cracking. Officers exited the building to confront the man, who was seen hurling abuse at them from a distance. He then fled across a a nearby car park. 'A search of the area was conducted, but the man could not be found. However, officers did also find that a security gate into the station itself has also been damaged. The man was described as being white, wearing a light grey Berghaus jacket and dark blue jogging bottoms. 'Officers are now appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at around the time of the incident, or captured the man in question on any CCTV or dash cams, to get in touch.' Inspector Nick Rogers said: 'Deliberately targeting and damaging our police buildings and hurling threatening abuse at our officers and staff is totally unacceptable and something that we as a force will not stand for.'
