West Belfast's policing team has appealed for witnesses after a burglary at a local cathedral

It was reported that a male entered St Peter’s Cathedral at St Peter’s Square North, at 1pm on Wednesday, February 1, where he unsuccessfully attempted to steal the collection box.

The man then made his way into a secure storage room leaving a short time later with a large keyboard and associated keyboard stool with a combined value of around £800.A PSNI spokesperson said: "He left the scene on foot and made his way into the Divis housing estate along Milford Place carrying both items.

"Our investigation is underway and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information to call police on 101, quoting reference number 1122 of 01/02/23.
