Benjamin Gibney left more than £5,500 worth of damage when he jumped through a window to burgle a chip shop

An early-morning raider has been sentenced after admitting to climbing through a chippy window and fleeing with £150 cash - leaving more than £5,500 worth of damage in his wake. Benjamin Gibney appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, November 27 where he was handed a 26 week curfew and ordered to pay a £500 fine. As part of the curfew order, the 37-year-old will be electronically monitored and is required to stay at his home in Frodsham between 8pm and 6am every day.

and ANPR enquiries led to the identification of Gibney who was arrested in relation to the incident. Subsequent forensic tests also placed him at the scene of the crime, and he was later charged in relation to the offence. Following sentencing Police Constable Danny Martin, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit said: “We are committed to supporting our local businesses and treat crime against them seriously. We quickly identified our man, made an arrest, and put him before the courts.
