ACT Police have charged a 20-year-old man following an alleged shooting incident taking place at a property west of Canberra, near the NSW border, Saturday afternoon.

It's alleged the man attempted to shoot at four men in his company about 4.30pm on Saturday in the small rural town of Coree near Uriarra Village.

Police believe the man shot a hunting rifle at least five times at his"family property" on Brindabella Road. Authorities said they believed the five men, who were friends, had been consuming alcohol prior to the altercation.During the search, Uriarra Village went into lockdown with roadblocks put in place.Acting Commander Richard Breiner said he was unable to provide more details as to why it took police around five hours to locate the alleged shooter.
