Man charged after charred body of missing Alabama 23-year-old found inside torched truck

The burned truck was towed on Friday. The body was found Sunday when they heard about the missing person and looked into the vehicle.

Christian Moore disappeared in the early-morning hours of Thursday, July 11, 2024, from his home in Newbern.

Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Robert Turner said Tuesday Moore’s 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. was found Friday in Dallas County. The discovery was made by sheriff’s deputies when they responded to a call about a burned vehicle slightly off the road.After deputies learned of Moore’s disappearance, they remembered the vehicle they had towed and made the connection.

“It was only after they heard about the missing person did they look into the vehicle and discover the charged remains,’’ Turner said.On Monday, 24-year-old Aravis Arlexus Thomas, of Valley Grande, was taken into custody, according to court records made public Tuesday.Charging documents against Thomas state that blood was found inside a Valley Grande home and allege he put Moore’s body and other evidence in the passenger’s seat of the truck and set it on fire.
