Emergency services rushed to the scene on Glasgow Road after receiving reports of an incident involving a car and a 84-year-old pedestrian at around 5.55pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Police Scotland has charged a man following the death of a Lanarkshire pensioner who was knocked down on a Blantyre street.
Robert Shira-Gibb was taken to hospital for treatment, however, he sadly lost his life the following day.READ MORE: £60k cannabis farm found in Airdrie property after police called in over explosion fears Officers have now confirmed that a 54-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a fatal crash on the Glasgow Road in Blantyre last year."The incident happened around 5.55pm on Tuesday, 19 December, 2023 and involved a car and a 84-year-old pedestrian."A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
