Pc Christopher Burnham remains in a critical condition
A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was left fighting for his life following a hit-and-run.
The officer remains in a critical condition in hospital and was unable to recognise his wife, following the incident at around 2.45pm on Wednesday. Chief Superintendent Mike O’Hara, who described Pc Burnham as ‘very well-regarded’ by colleagues, said he faces a ‘long road to recovery’ and is expected to stay in hospital for months.
‘His wife has been to see him but he doesn’t recognise her. He hasn’t been able to assist the investigation. His ten-year-old son is off school today.’
