The man, who is accused of causing the death of a pedestrian, will soon appear in court

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was fatally injured by a car in Nottingham. The emergency services were called to Hucknall Road in Carrington shortly before 11pm on Wednesday, November 6.

A 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Taufeeq Ahmed, 23, has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and dishonestly failing to disclose information. Ahmed, of Bestwood, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, November 9. Two other men, aged 21 and 27, were also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and have been released on police bail.

Investigations into what happened are ongoing. Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident that led to a young man’s death. "Officers have been working continually over the last 38 hours to gather evidence, interview witnesses and secure these charges. Our investigation continues whilst his family remain supported by specialist officers”.
