DCI Caldwell was shot a number of times as he loaded footballs into the boot of his car at a sports complex on the Killyclogher Road in Omagh almost a year ago on February 22 2023.
A 44-year-old arrested in Dungannon on Thursday has been charged with the attempted murder alongside a number of terrorism offences. A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Detectives investigating the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell in Omagh on 22nd February 2023, have this evening, Friday 9th February, charged a man to court.
