A man is accused of passing fake $100 bills at a gas station convenience store, once before pumping gas and the other, after.

Richard Thomas Stivale 's arrests include driving with a suspended license in 2019, and uttering a counterfeit bill and felony petit theft on Feb. 28, 2024. He has been held without bond since April 5, 2024.

“After getting fuel,” the report continued, “the subject came back into the store and purchased two $5 scratch-off tickets with another $100 bill. But then, the manager said, her employee became suspicious “because the bills were old and he could not find any security features on them.“This time, the female came into the store and attempted to purchase almost $100 worth of merchandise.

“The bills were not printed on what appeared to be the proper paper,” police explained. “They also did not have a watermark, security thread, or magnetic strip. Additionally, the ink bled from the paper with wetness, and the paper appeared to break down when friction was applied by hand.”He also watched surveillance video and saw the man pay with a fake $100 bill, then walk out of the store and get into a car with a certain license plate, “occupied by” a man “later identified as Kevin C.

Then, the detective watched the second transaction and compared that video to “a similar case involving the same three subjects.”
