Two men are recovering in hospital after they were allegedly stabbed while confronting a man they thought had stolen from a supermarket in QLD. 9News

A 28-year-old man from Gladstone, more than 400 kilometres north in Central Queensland, has been charged with wounding and possessing a knife in public.

Police were called to Grey Street, South Brisbane, about 4pm on Wednesday, after reports of a stabbing.A man in his 30s, understood to be a security guard, was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition with wounds to the abdomen after the incident at a shopping centre.Police alleged the injured men approached the 28-year-old believing he'd stolen supermarket goods.
