Kaden Braithwaite made history as the youngest Manchester City debutant in over 40 years, highlighting the academy's success. Phil Foden, James McAtee, and Rico Lewis shone in the Champions League, while former City players are thriving across the Premier League.

Last week, Kaden Braithwaite made history by making his Manchester City debut as a 16-year-old - the youngest debutant in over 40-years and third-youngest in club history.

Cole Palmer has been described as the best player in the Premier League this week after another four-goal haul took his tally to 31 goals in 53 appearances for Chelsea . Two of those goals were assisted by another former City academy graduate - Jadon Sancho. McAtee's first senior goal for City in the Champions League made it another scorer from that Class of 2020, with City's influence felt in Europe, too. Of the nine games in the Champions League on Tuesday, six goals were scored or assisted by a former City youngster.

That is the essence of City's transfer strategy when it comes to the academy. Even if players like Palmer go on to thrive, the better they do, the stronger City's negotiating position becomes for the next youngster attracting interest. This summer alone they topped £60m from academy sales, on top of more than £100m in the previous two years. Everyone is looking for the next Foden, or Palmer, or Sancho.
