Both Man City and Liverpool are interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid. While a January move is unlikely, both clubs are planning to make a bid in the summer transfer window.
Man City have made funds available for Pep Guardiola to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid. Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Liverpool are also in the running to sign the 24-year-old midfielder in the upcoming transfer windows. The Reds had attempted to bring him to Anfield before his £85.3million move to Los Blancos from Monaco in 2022 but were beaten to the deal.
A January move is currently considered unlikely for either club as Carlo Ancelotti is reluctant to weaken his squad mid-season while they want to remain competitive across all competitions. Tchouameni has established himself as a regular feature of the Madrid team so far this season, making 22 appearances across all competition including five in the Champions League. \Despite this, both Man City and Liverpool believe they could tempt him to make the move to England, with a move more likely to take place in the summer. Tchouameni has been a long-term target for Liverpool, and remains one of the most highly-regarded young midfielders in Europe. City, meanwhile, are desperate for reinforcements in the middle after Rodri’s injury has led to a series of issues and dramatic dip in form at the Etihad. The club had already begun making plans to improve their midfield in the wake of the Spaniard’s injury. Madrid’s defensive issues have often seen Tchouameni drop into centre-back to provide cover, but he has featured predominantly in his preferred defensive midfield role. However, the opportunity to become a nailed-on starter in midfield either at City or Liverpool is said to be an appealing option for the Frenchman
