Andy Burnham has sent a message of support to Man City ahead of tonight's final
Today is the day that history could be made on the blue half of Manchester.
This evening, Manchester City will take on Inter Milan in Istanbul seeking to clinch their first Champions League title and, with it, a historic treble. Having already claimed the Premier League and FA Cup titles this season, the Blues stand on the cusp of matching Manchester United's 1999 achievement.Despite dominating English football over the last decade, City are yet to get their hands on Europe's most prestigious club competition. It's only the second time they have played in the Champions League final. On the previous occasion, they finished runners-up to Chelsea in 2021.
But Pep Guardiola's side are favourites to lift the crown this evening. Tens of thousands of Blues have made the trip to Turkey to cheer on their team, while others will be watching from pubs, bars and living rooms across Greater Manchester. We'll bring you all the build-up to the game as fans prepare to cheer on their team towards European glory. Our chief Manchester City FC writer, Simon Bajkowski, is in Istanbul with the fans now.
