Kevin De Bruyne could be out until February 2024, Pep Guardiola says, as he admitted that Manchester City's transfer plans have been altered by the Belgian's long-term injury.
City have an interest in Lucas Paqueta, but reports on Friday suggested the chances of that deal going ahead had plummeted, and that was before it emerged he is the subject of a betting investigation. Guardiola refused to answer questions on the West Ham man in his press conference, instead back his current squad to cover De Bruyne's absence if a new signing doesn't arrive.“We are talking a lot with Txiki [Begiristain] about what we have to do and we maybe need to add someone else.
"When people say just Manchester City and Pep Guardiola buy players. I didn’t know I had a lot of money in my pocket to buy all the players I have! We have to see what happens in the market and if we can do it and to pay what we believe is fair. "Phil [Foden] can play there, Macca [James McAtee] can play there, [Mateo] Kovacic can play there, Bernardo [Silva] can play there.," he said.
