Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed the fight between Man City and the Premier League is “getting messy” behind the scenes., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested governments will be applying pressure, with the “real heavyweights” now becoming involved in the fight.
Last month, Man City brought a two-week arbitration process against the Premier League in a bid to end Associated Party Transaction rules. The champions sued for damages and accused top-flight rules of being anti-competitive and discriminatory towards the Gulf states – but no decision has yet been announced.
