A MAN has been cleared of groping a student at a university event.
Mohammed Dar, 23, was on trial accused of sexually assaulting the 21-year-old woman on November 10 2021.
The woman stated she was approached by a man from behind on a dance floor at the University of Glasgow's union. She claimed that he touched her lower back and then made further advances once she moved away from him.She added that the man then chased her for 10 seconds as she ran away.She stated that she believed the woman's evidence at Glasgow Sheriff Court that she was sexually assaulted.
However, the sheriff stated:"I can't say beyond reasonable doubt that identification [of Dar] is uncompromisingly reliable. "I do believe the woman and the other witness but I have a doubt with identification and in all circumstances I am obliged to give Mr Dar the benefit of the doubt."
