A 44-year-old man is fighting for his life after an altercation in Worsley, Greater Manchester. Police responded to reports of an incident on Leigh Road and later discovered the man with serious injuries at nearby Irvine Avenue. A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody.
Cordons are in place with forensics at two scenes in Worsley after a man was left fighting for his life in an altercation. Police were called to the incident on Leigh Road at around 8.15pm on Sunday .
Officers later discovered a man, aged 44, with 'significant injuries' at nearby Irvine Avenue. He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition, police said. A 22-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody. Witnesses have told of how scenes remain in place two days later with forensic officers conducting investigations.A police spokesperson said: "At around 8:15pm on Sunday 15 December 2024, our officers responded to reports of an altercation on Leigh Road, Worsley. This later led to the discovery of a man with significant injuries at Irvine Avenue.
"One man, aged 22, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault and still remains in custody. A man aged 44 was taken to hospital with serious and what are believed to life-threatening injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.
