Liverpool Council and Merseyside Police have urged football fans to avoid scam parking schemes

A man cut through steel poles to charge drivers to park near Liverpool FC’s famous stadium on match days. In a bid to try and make a quick profit from fans travelling to Anfield , people are turning to illegal means to host illegitimate parking schemes. Merseyside Police in conjunction with Liverpool Council have announced a crackdown on attempts to fraudulently charge motorists amid increasing reports of threats and intimidation in the north of the city.

It was announced by Liverpool Council last month how staff in parking services would be equipped with new body-worn cameras to clamp down on abuse while out on the job. Where it is not possible to park, match going fans are advised to use public transport or find legitimate pay and display locations further out.
