The accident took place near Inverkip last night and the drivers were rushed to hospital in Glasgow.
A man has died in hospital following a 'serious' road crash on the A78 near Inverkip. The alarm was raised shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday, October 14 when officers were alerted to the two-car smash.
Tragically, officers have confirmed that the 59-year-old male driver of the Toyota Yaris has since died in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. The road was closed overnight in both directions between Inverkip and Wemyss Bay while cops launched a probe into the incident. It reopened around 9am.
