A man, in his 30s, has died after getting into difficulty in the sea by Barmouth, Gwynedd, police have said.
North Wales Police and the coastguard were called to the area shortly before 2pm on August 2 following reports of a person struggling in the water. The man was then taken to Ysybyty Gwynedd, in Bangor, by air ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead, a spokesperson for the force said. They added that his family have been made aware of his death.there were four people in the water, one of whom had been described as a casualty.Witnesses also stated that several children had been rescued from the sea. They are now said to be safe and were cared for by volunteers from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution .
Along with the incident in Barmouth, Gwynedd, it said the Abersoch Coastguard Rescue Team was called to help three people in the water at Hell’s Mouth. The casualties were said to be suffering from suspected hypothermia and were given medical care, the agency said.a swimmer got into difficulty by Pedn Vounder Beach, near Porthcurno, CornwallA multi-agency rescue was launched to rescue the man, in his 40s, but he despite the best efforts of medical workers, he could not be revived.
His next of kin have since been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said.
