Police say a 26-year-old man died after presenting himself to Bankstown Hospital on Sunday morning after attending a music festival. About 12 others were taken to hospital for treatment.

"About 3am on Sunday … officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were called to Bankstown Hospital to investigate the circumstances of the death of a 26-year-old man," NSW Police said in a statement. Temperatures soared to a peak of 36.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday at Olympic Park, in Sydney's west, where the event was held in an indoor venue.There was a large police and security presence at the festival, which was deemed a "high-risk event" under the NSW Music Festivals Act introduced in 2019.
