James Lea photographed a strange flying object that made him think 'what's going on?'
A man photographed a mysterious looking flying object over Liverpool Bay. James Lea was on Kings Parade in Wallasey at 7.30pm on Monday September 16 when he noticed the strange sight. Taking his camera out to take pictures, he told the ECHO : 'First there was a bright spot high in the distance on the horizon. It reminded me of a similar sight I'd seen years before, which was a meteor travelling towards me, bright white and getting bigger - it burnt out as they do.
It seemed to change directions from downward to gaining height again, something like a rocket out of control. 'Its tail was wide at the low point to narrow at the high point. It was slow, not a fast action, and the more I looked I noticed two others left and right of it - of the same shape. I wondered if someone had launched a missile from a ship in distress, but flares are red and descend slowly.' The 69-year-old added: 'I intend to do a painting soon.
