A man fatally shot himself after being engaged in a standoff with Thurston County deputies and Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers for hours Tuesday evening.

Officials said the incident began at around 7 a.m. when fire crews responded to an RV and boat on fire in the area of 103rd Ave SE and Old McKenna Rd SE in Yelm. While there, a neighbor also reported a possible death that occurred at the same location. Thurston County deputies then began searching the property and an adjacent property, according to officials. On the adjacent property, deputies found an adult man and woman who'd locked themselves inside a trailer and refused to come out.
When a deputy attempted to enter the trailer, the man flashed a gun, according to officials. Thurston County's SWAT and WSP's Bomb Squad both responded to the scene, according to officials. Officials said the woman eventually came out and was interviewed by deputies before being released. The man remained inside for several more hours before fatally shooting himself at around 7 p.m., according to deputies.However, Thurston County deputies and detectives are still at the scene and are searching for a possible murder victim, according to officials.
