A man has been found guilty of the rape and murder of Danielle McLaughlin, an Irish woman who was backpacking through India in 2017. Vikat Bhagat, a friend of Danielle's during her trip, was found guilty at the District and Sessions Court in south Goa after an almost eight-year legal process. Tanaiste Simon Harris today said he hopes the verdict will "represent some closure" for the family of the young Donegal woman.
