The 40-year-old was stopped by officers from Police Scotland in Orbiston Drive, Bellshill last night after he was found to be in possession of a knife. He is due to appear in court at a later date.

The Priority Policing Team found he was in possession of a lock back knife and he was arrested and charged with possessing a blade in public.READ MORE: Greenock pensioner found seriously injured on street as police launch probeA statement from the force reads: "About 2100 hours on Friday 27th September 2024 officers from the Priority Policing Team at Wishaw stopped a 40 year old male in possession of a lock back knife on Orbiston Drive, Bellshill.
"The male was arrested and charged with possessing a bladed article in public and will be appearing at court. "Information from the public is crucial to our work and we would urge anyone with information about weapon carrying in their local community to contact Police Scotland on 101.
