Man in his 60s from Manchester arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after young woman seriously injured in crash
A man aged in his 60s from Manchester was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a young woman was seriously injured in a collision.
Police said she was a passenger in a Toyota that was 'struck from behind' by a Mercedes C220 that was 'driving in the same direction' on a busy bypass. Both cars ended up on a grass verge and the Toyota landed on its roof, said police. He remain in police custody for questioning on Friday night, said Lancashire Police. The Toyota driver, a man in his 40s, suffered 'more minor injuries', the force added. The collision happened in Accrington, Lancashire, at 8pm on Thursday night.
"The collision happened on the A56 Accrington Easterly Bypass at shortly before 8pm on Thursday when a Toyota CH-R travelling north approached the roundabout at junction eight when it was struck from behind by a Mercedes C220 driving in the same direction.
