BEAUVAIS, France: A court in northern France on Friday sentenced a man to 18 years in prison for stabbing and then burning alive his 15-year-old girlfriend.

'You're wrong, I'm innocent.'Defense lawyer Elise Arfi said it was 'too early' to comment on the possibility of an appeal.The case made waves in France where a woman is murdered by her partner or former partner every three days, according to official figures.
