Kvitova was told by doctors at the time of the attack that her career could be over
Radim Zondra was found guilty of causing serious bodily harm when he stabbed the tennis player twice at her Czech Republic apartment.
She needed surgery to her playing hand as a result of the attack and was out of action for five months.The state prosecutor had requested a 12 year prison sentence after a court today ruled Zondra did stab Kvitova in Prostejov.Mum found dead in hospital room with newborn trapped underneath herShe’s at the Miami Open this week, and has made it through to the quarterfinals where she will play Australia’s Ashleigh Barty.
She told the court there was ‘blood all over the place’ after the stabbing and said she had offered him money to leave eventually giving him 10,000 Czech crowns .The court has ordered Zondra to pay the money back. In her judgment, Judge Dagmar Bordovska said Kvitova’s testimony was credible, while witnesses who testified on behalf of Zondra were unreliable, CTK news agency reports.
