Police have named a man killed in a crash on the M6 in Cumbria . The motorway was closed for more than seven hours after the incident on August 15.
The northbound carriageway between junction 36 for Kirkby Lonsdale and junction 38 for Tebay was closed off at just after 11am with emergency services at the scene. National Highways North West said at the time that it was due to a "serious collision involving one car". On Tuesday Cumbria Police said Alexander Bonnar, 69, from Glasgow died in the incident, between junctions 37 and 38. The force confirmed no other vehicles were involved.The air ambulance landed following the crash at just after 11am. The motorway remained closed until 7.20pm for investigation work, leading to long delays in the area and congestion to routes through Kendal.
