Man killed, others injured, due to downed trees throughout NY, NJ after powerful overnight storm

A man was killed by a fallen tree in his East Orange backyard. A relative told Eyewitness News the man died shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The man's pregnant wife spent the night hospitalized, being monitored after she was overwhelmed by grief. Police say this all happened when the vehicle was stopped in traffic on Duane Road, inside the park at around 9:05 p.m.In Queens Village, a downed tree snapped in half. Residents in the area say it was struck by lightning.
