Mountain rescuers in Cumbria have responded to a series of recent emergency calls
A man sadly died after falling ill near to a Lake District beauty spot while out walking with his family. The tragedy in Cumbria was one of a series of recent emergency call-outs involving mountain rescuers and other emergency services.
A rescue helicopter deployed together with the mountain rescue team, but the helicopter couldn't land at the scene and had to abort due to the weather conditions and terrain.In a social media post, Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: "They did however provide an accurate location of the casualty site. Keswick team arrived but despite best efforts, could not save the man.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with the man’s family and friends, and in particular with the man's son-in-law, who was performing the initial CPR." It happened at around 6.21pm last Saturday, with a total of 27 mountain rescue team members were involved in the operation for almost six hours. The mountain rescue team said they didn't have maps or smart phones and an accurate location could not be determined.
