An 18-year-old man from Lancashire has pleaded guilty to murdering three young girls and attempting to murder eight others at a dance class in Southport. The attack took place during a Taylor Swift-themed session last year.
Axel Rudakubana, an 18-year-old from Banks, Lancashire, has pleaded guilty to the murder of three young girls and the attempted murder of eight others at a dance class in Southport . The incident occurred on July 29 last year during a Taylor Swift-themed session at The Hart Space. The victims of the attack were identified as Alice da Silva Aguiar, aged nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven.
Rudakubana also admitted to attempting to murder eight other children, whose identities are protected, as well as dance instructor Leanne Lucas and businessman John Hayes. In addition to the murder and attempted murder charges, Rudakubana pleaded guilty to possession of a knife on the day of the attack, producing the biological toxin ricin prior to July 29, and holding information that could be useful to someone planning or committing an act of terrorism. The deadly poison ricin and a PDF document containing potentially harmful information were discovered during searches of Rudakubana's family home on Old School Close, where he resided with his parents originally from Rwanda. All 16 charges against him have now been admitted. Rudakubana, who had remained silent in previous court sessions, pleaded guilty to the charges on Monday morning. His sentencing is scheduled for Thursday.
