Craig Evans expressed his condolences after the former Labour deputy prime minister's passing
A man made famous after being punched by the late deputy PM John Prescott during a protest in North Wales today looked back on their headline-grabbing encounter. Craig Evans, who hurled eggs at the politician during the 2001 demonstration, paid his own tribute. Speaking from his home, the 53-year-old dad-of-two said: 'A friend called me this morning to say he died. He had Alzheimer's I believe. You wouldn't wish that on anyone. My thoughts are with his family.
I still believe now what I did back then,' reports North Wales Live . Lord Prescott died at the age of 86 after a battle with Alzheimer's, his family confirmed earlier today. He is fondly remembered as someone who dedicated his life to pursuing social justice and environmental causes. The former trade unionist and ex-merchant seaman died 'peacefully' with family by his side in a care home.
