A man was assaulted outside a bar in Liverpool city centre, prompting a police investigation. Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses after the victim was punched and taken to hospital for treatment.
A large cordon was erected next to a city centre bar after a man was assaulted. Merseyside Police were called to Victoria Street at around 12.50am on Saturday, December 21. It followed reports of a man in his 30s being punched outside Zenn bar and restaurant. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of facial injuries. Police said CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries have been carried out and detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Steve Street said: 'Thankfully the victim was not more seriously injured, and we have seen the devastation that one punch can cause. We will pursue anyone who uses violence in our night-time economy, to ensure that Liverpool remains a safe place to visit, live and work. 'If you were at or near to the bar or passing by in a vehicle, please share any information or dashcam footage. We are determined to find the person responsible and bring them before the courts.'
