A 66-year-old man in Wythenshawe is facing a recurring nightmare as wastewater from his upstairs neighbor's toilet floods his apartment. Despite numerous complaints, the issue remains unresolved, forcing him to live in cramped quarters and even a campervan.
A 66-year-old man from Wythenshawe has been left furious after complaining for weeks that wastewater was coming into his flat whenever his upstairs neighbour flushed the toilet. Martin Byron told how the unbearable smell and the damp have seen him moving into his living room and even a campervan on the driveway. Retiree Martin told how he has spent some time living in a hotel provided by the operators of his flat. However, Martin shared that despite the smell he will not leave his flat.
Nonetheless, he claimed that despite his repeated complaints the issue has still not been fixed. This has left him with foul water flowing into the apartment. \'I live on the ground floor, it\'s the apartment over me,\' he told the Manchester Evening News. \'Their soil pipe broke and I got all their water, all their waste water, coming into the bathroom.\' After reporting it, Martin went to stay in a hotel. He said: \'I reported it a month ago, only to be told that there\'s nothing that they can do about it. One of the supervisors came and said you can\'t stay here, we will have to find you a hotel. \'That was for five days I moved out there. They moved me to another hotel. \' He added: \'I had to come back every other day to empty a dehumidifier that they lent me to dry out the walls.\' Martin described the soiled water entering into the flat as like a \'downpour\'. He says it happens every time his neighbours flush, and Martin acknowledged that for their part they can\'t leave the toilet unflushed after going to the bathroom. \'I\'m getting water, and I don\'t mean a trickle of water, it\'s cascading down,\' he said. \'It\'s like a waterfall, it\'s like a downpour. You go to the toilet 15 times a day, I\'m seeing it 15 times a day. \'It\'s blown my lights three times, and it\'s gone into my bedroom.\' As for the smell, Martin said: \'Does it smell? Let me tell you! If you was to come here and smell it, smell the damp and smell the soiled water.
