A 29-year-old Anchorage man was charged with driving under the influence after police say he hit and killed a pedestrian and left the scene early Sunday morning.

Police said a body was found lying in the southbound lanes of Old Seward Highway near Industry Way around 3:45 a.m. Sunday. Officers suspected at the time the man — later identified as 30-year-old Brian Pederson — was the victim of a hit-and-run collision. Police said Pederson was found dead when officers arrived.that Marsean Hadley showed up drunk at an Anchorage residence associated with a license plate found a few feet from the deceased Sunday morning.
The investigation shut down the Old Seward Highway for hours between East Klatt Road and Industry Way. Police said the roadway reopened around 9 a.m. Sunday.Copyright 2024 KTUU. All rights reserved.
